Uploading Pictures to eBay

To get your pictures to work for eBay auctions, you first have to upload them to bright.net's server. All bright.net customers get 25 MB of space to use for free.

You'll need an FTP program to allow your computer to talk to bright.net's web server. If you don't have one you can get one from bright.net's download page.

We'll show you how to use WS_FTP for Windows 95/98 and Fetch for the Macintosh.

Windows 95/98 - WS_FTP

Macintosh - Fetch

Once you have your picture(s) uploaded you can then go to eBay's page and fill out the information to list your item for sale.

You'll have to enter the URL (or address) of where your picture is located on the web so that other people can see it. Normally this address is "http://www.bright.net/~username/picture.jpg" -- where username is our bright.net username and picture.jpg is the name of your picture.

"picture.jpg" is just an example. It could be called "bronco.jpg" or "flowers.gif".

.gif and .jpg are 2 types of image files typically used over the World Wide Web because of thier high compression rate. You'll need to make sure your images are of one of these types in order for other people to see them - If they're not you can get a tool to convert those images (such as ACDSee for Windows or Graphic Converter for Mac) from download.com.
